The piece of land where the "holiday house" is now standing out , is an inheritance from my mother and it is called in Greek "Aloni." "Aloni or Alonia " (in plural) are specially selected pieces of land where there's always a blowing of wind in the summer. Farmers, in the old days, needed this breeze of air in order to help them separate, let's say, the wheat from the straw. Using a big wooden kind of fork, farmers used to throw up in the sky the already harvested wheat mixed with straw. The breeze of air blew away the straw as it was lighter, thus letting the wheat fall right down in front of the farmer. Therefore, where a house is built on these kind of areas, it is always cool and fresh in the summer heat.
