The official language of Cyprus is Greek, but English is spoken almost everywhere on the island. This makes it easier for visitors to converse with the people who live on the island. Other languages in Cyprus are Turkish, French, and German so those that don’t speak English will feel welcome as well.

An interesting fact of the Cypriot world is that the names of places have been changed into Latin characters. This was done according to the official System of Transliteration of the Greek alphabet. An example would be the Greek word Lefkosia was changed to Nicosia. And when visiting it might be nice to know how to say hello, which is the same word as goodbye like in Hawaii, Yah Sou
